ABOUT THIS REGION

The Kootenay region of British Columbia offers many opportunities for adventure. The Kootenays are considered by many to be one of the most scenic areas of BC in a province noted for its scenery. Mountains, meadows, rivers, lakes and streams provide the perfect backdrop for a variety of outdoor activities throughout the Kootenays. Horseback riding, ATV tours, fishing and biking are just a few of the summer activities you have to choose from. The stunning Selkirk and Purcell Mountain ranges offer alpine hiking second to none and these mountains are home to some of the most remote backcountry lodges in Canada. Some lodges so remote, they are accessible only by helicopter. The Kootenays and Revelstoke also offer some of the best snowcat and heli powder skiing in Canada. The Monashee mountains near Revelstoke are legendary for snowfall, and heli skiers and boarders know about the quality and quantity of this areas snow. Revelstoke is also home to world class mountain snowmobiling and with annual snowfalls of 40 - 60 feet. Revelstoke is truly an adventure enthusiast's dream!
