TRIP DETAILS

Trip Highlights
Day 1:
Arrive in Yellowknife ( tour can also be done in reverse, beginning and ending in Inuvik): Yellowknife city tour and gallery tour and a walk through Yellowknife’s historic old town. Hotel accommodations in Yellowknife
Day 2:
Full day in Yellowknife. Tour the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, the Legislative Assembly and the Northern Frontier Visitor's Centre. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3:
Full day in Yellowknife. Tour the City of Yellowknife boardwalk. Do a Great Slave Lake boat tour including harbour tour, houseboats, sightseeing, fishing and a northern gourmet shore dinner at an island retreat. Overnight in hotel.
Day 4:
Flight from Yellowknife to Norman Wells. This day includes a town tour of Norman Wells, historical and cultural tours of the past history and present life of the town, a stop at the Historical Centre for shopping and history and evening walk along the Mackenzie River for some fossil hunting. Overnight in hotel.
Day 5:
Pick up at your hotel and transport to the airport for an aerial flight to experience the sites of the Sahtu - landscape of the Mackenzie Mountains and the beauty of the river valley. For the more fit a short hike of a mountain canyon enroute. This day also includes some canoeing on Jackfish Lake near Norman Wells. Overnight in hotel.
Day 6:
In the morning, travelers choose from a last minute drop off and pick up at the Historical Centre or at the town stores for souvenir shopping before being dropped off at the airport for the flight to Inuvik. Town tour of Inuvik and overnight in a bed & breakfast.
Day 7:
Fly from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk for a community tour and visit the local Pingos. You have a chance to dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean beforing flying back to Inuvik for a Dempster Highway tour, Canada's most northern highway. Overnight in a bed & breakfast.
Day 8:
Browse the shops in Inuvik before flying back to Yellowknife, arriving around 4 pm. You can then depart for home or if needed, an extra hotel night can be arranged.
