Hiking in Alberta's badlands from a remote cabin

Hiking through Alberta's striking badlands will lead you on a trail of discovery. The region is known for its dinosaur bones and fossils. Trails lead throughout the 700 acre area along valleys and through canyons. The beautiful scenery provides plenty of photo and artistic potential. There is a variety of wildlife from deer to coyotes and foxes. Relax and get away from it all in seclusion at this unique location.

The cabin is accessable year round. In winter, cross country skiing is a popular activity at the cabin.

Season: year round
Requirements: Sleeping bags, food and beverages.
Suggested Items: Camera, binoculars, daypack, canteen, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Suggested Clothing: Hiking boots, rain gear, warm clothing suited to a variety of weather conditions, shorts, t-shirts and hat.
Difficulty: Easy
Restrictions: Two night minimum.
Maximum Number of People: 6
Equipment Provided: Kitchen facilities and outdoor barbeque at the cabin are provided as well as kitchen towels and hand towels.
Transportation: Trips originate and end near Drumheller, Alberta. Drumheller can be reached from Calgary on Highway 1, east to Highway 21, then north to Highway 9, and continue east to Drumheller. The staging area is west of Drumheller on Highway 575 to Highway 837. Travel north 1.5 km, east 1.5 km and north 1.5 km to staging area at the farm. Transfer to the cabin from the staging area by 4x4 is included. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: Accommodation at a modern, yet rustic cabin that includes full kitchen facilities, sleeping loft and large outdoor deck. Outdoor toilet and heated shower. Hand pump water well near the cabin. Lighting is provided by propane. Pillows and pillow cases are provided. Generator is available at additional cost.
Guide Information: Guided hiking tours are also available.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures range from 20-30 degrees Celsius and the area is semi-desert. Winter temperatures average -10 to 0 degrees Celsius, but can reach -30 degrees Celsius in the extreme.
Comments: Tent space available outside the cabin for larger groups. Fully catered meal services and personal guiding is available at additional cost.
