ABOUT THIS REGION  MULTI ACTIVITY TRIPS - SUMMER

Multi-activity camping tour in the Yukon

This multi-activity adventure into the Yukon backcountry combines canoeing, hiking, rafting as well as a visit to local hotsprings, local dog musher and Kluane National Park. Your adventure begins with a meet and greet in Whitehorse and some time to explore the city with overnight accommodations in a local hotel. On Day 2 you will head west to beautiful Kluane National Park. We will drive to the Sheep Mountain Visitor Centre and from here you will hike up Sheep Creek for a view of the Kaskawulsh Glacier. Dall Sheep and Grizzly Bear can often be seen on this hike as well and hiking time is about 2 to 3 hours. In the afternoon you will drive to Kathleen Lake where you will camp for the night.

After breakfast on Day 3 you will pack up your tents and drive to the Blanchard River where the day's adventure begins. Here you'll change into your rafting gear (wet suit, PFD and helmet) for the exciting trip down the Tatshenshini River. Before you board the raft you'll be instructed about how to paddle and handle the raft in any situation. After this fabulous trip your guides will drive back to Haines Junction and on to Blue Kennels for a dog mushing experience: this is a hands on demonstration of dogs, harnessing and hitching to sleds. Introduction to mushing, training ride with buggy and stories about dog mushing followed by a BBQ dinner around the campfire in the dog yard. The campsite for the night is only a few minutes away. On Day 4 you will load up the canoes and start the canoe trip on the Takhini River with paddling instructions for a safe and fun trip on this beautiful river. Upon take out we will load up our equipment for the drive to the Takhini Hot Springs where you will soak in the hot water before returning to Whitehorse for another hotel night before departing the next morning.
