OVERVIEW GUIDE TRAINING PROGRAMS

Wilderness horse logging training program

Learn the skills of horse logging on this educational training program in the Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia. This comprehensive course is intended to provide the skills and knowledge required by every teamster and horse logger. The course covers employment in the industry, shoeing, harnesses and equipment, matching a team of horses, driving and commands for a single horse and a team, training horses in harness, logging requirements, wood-lot management and industry structure. This program is designed for those who are interested in going on to horse log and manage their own wood-lots and private land or purchase horses to log on a contract basis.

Wilderness horse logging training program

Season: April 22, 2012 to April 28, 2012
Difficulty: Intermediate
Equipment Provided: All-inclusive programs include meals, accommodation, horses, instructors and equipment (everything from saddles, to packing and shoeing equipment).
Transportation: Trips originate and end at the ranch, near Gold Bridge, BC. During the summer season take Highway 99 from Vancouver to Whistler and then Pemberton. Take the Hurley Pass Forestry Road to the ranch. Van transfer from Vancouver to the ranch can be added for an addtional cost. The van accommodates up to 8 passengers and luggage and departure is from the Sheraton Guildford in Surrey at 7 am.
Accommodations: Accommodation is a combination of Ranch tent cabins and alpine camp(s).
Meal Information: All meals are included.
