Canoe and hike through Wells Gray Park

Outdoor enthusiasts will love this package. This trip combines the quiet serenity of wilderness canoeing with backcountry day hikes. Enjoy three days of hiking into the alpine regions of Wells Gray, then catch your breath and head out in the morning for a wilderness canoe trip on Clearwater Lake. Spectacular mountain views, good trout fishing and abundant wildlife around every corner of the peaceful shoreline.

Canoe and hike through Wells Gray Park

Wells Gray Provincial Park is a vast untamed and primitive wilderness exceeding 520,000 hectares in area and offers an infinite variety of superb scenery. Hiking through the high meadows, canoeing on the deep blue lakes and sitting back by the campfire you will appreciate this untouched wilderness and it will leave you with a lifetime of cherished memories.

Canoe and hike through Wells Gray Park

Season: late June to late August
Requirements: Sleeping bag.
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, fishing license, fishing gear.
Suggested Clothing: Hiking boots, rain jacket and pants, hat, gloves, wool or fleece sweater, other clothing suited to variable temperatures.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Restrictions: Minimum of 4 participants per trip. Attempts can be made to add you to another party to make the minimum requirement.
Maximum Number of People: 11
Equipment Provided: Canoe and equipment, tent and camping gear.
Transportation: Trips originate and end at a guest ranch 27 km north of Clearwater, British Columbia. Shuttle from Clearwater to the ranch is available. Clearwater can be reached via Highway 5, about 130 km north of Kamloops, BC or west of Jasper, Alberta on Highway 16, then south on Highway 5, about 320 km. Transportation can be arranged as requested.
Accommodations: Accommodations are 3 nights at the guest ranch and 2 nights tent camping on the canoe trip. Accommodation at the guest ranch in rustic 'bunkhouse' style cabins. The bunkhouse cabins at the ranch are newly built, surrounded by trees and sleep 4-10 persons on wooden bunk beds with foam mattresses. There is a shower house just a short walk away. While on the canoe trip you will be staying at tent campsites on the lake.
Meal Information: Western cooking is prepared by your hosts while at the ranch and by your guides while on the trail.
Guide Information: Guide is included.
Weather Information: Average daytime summer temperatures here range between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius.
