There are three distinct fishing seasons in northern Saskatchewan. The spring and early summer season from early June to early July is prime pike fishing time. During this time of year the pike and lake trout start to move into the shallow water. Northern pike move into the shallow weed beds, often only one-two feet deep. This is an excellent time to fly-fish for the huge Northerns. Lake trout also move into the shallower water of reefs and rocky shorelines. Mid summer is mid July to late August and this is a great time to experience trophy lake trout fishing. While pike stay shallow this time of year, the lake trout move deeper and once you find the proper depth you will be hitting trout throughout the lake at that depth. The late summer and fall season goes from the last week of August to freeze up. This time of year all the fish start moving back into the shallow water again. Lake Trout are fall spawners so this makes for some great fishing as they are hitting the lures constantly. Pike are also feeding up for the winter so the fall can be some of the best fishing of the year. So pick your season, pack your gear and come to Ena Lake to experience the fishing trip of a lifetime.
