Dogsledding expedition on Blachford Lake

Combine an exciting dogsledding expedition with time spent at a wilderness lodge on this dog mushing package in the Northwest Territories. These multi-day trips are an exciting hands-on Northern experience that begins and ends at a lodge on Blachford Lake. Participants are paired up and assigned their own team of friendly and eager Alaskan Huskies. After an orientation and warm-up dog sledding trip, you’ll begin a three-day, two-night journey of a lifetime led by an experienced guide. Each day the dogs will take you across frozen lakes and through breathtaking forests. Our trail options are varied and depending on weather we may explore the east arm of Great Slave Lake or visit long abandoned family cabins or mining camps. Your guide will outline the trail before your first dog mushing day.

Be sure there will be ample photo opportunities and breaks to give rest and frozen snacks to the dogs and warm drinks and delicious treats to the humans. Evenings can be spent enjoying hot drinks and warm conversation by the fire, snowshoeing under the Aurora Borealis (weather permitting) or learning about some of the Northern legends shared by your guide. Meals are hearty and feature Northern foods each day. Our Arctic sleeping bags will help to keep you warm and cozy in the heated wall tent. The truly adventurous may even want to try sleeping in one of the sleds under the Northern Lights! A final evening at the lodge will give you the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing hot tub and to re-live your dog sledding adventures over a delicious dinner prepared by our chef.
