Ski to backcountry lodge in Banff National Park

This cross country skiing trip is a must for the avid cross-country skier. The backcountry of Banff National Park is a great place to explore in the winter and there is no better way to do this than from a cozy wilderness lodge. A 16 km ski away from the town of Banff and a just 10 km from the Sunshine turnoff, the wide, well-sheltered trails lead you along the tree-lined valley of the Sunshine Ridge. You will ski right to the lodge where a warm room and a delicious meal is waiting for you. This lodge stay is the perfect relaxing winter get-away in the mountains.

Season: January to March
Requirements: Cross country skis and equipment.
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses.
Suggested Clothing: Warm clothing suited to winter conditions. Ski suit, boots, hat, gloves, scarf, long underwear, fleece underclothes.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Maximum Number of People: 20
Equipment Provided: Bedding.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Banff, Alberta. Banff can be reached by taking Highway 1 west of Calgary, about 75 miles. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: The main lodge has 10 sleeping rooms, a large kitchen, a cozy living room area with a woodstove and hot showers.
Meal Information: Price includes dinner, breakfast and lunch.
Weather Information: Average winter temperatures range between 0 and -20 degrees Celsius.
Comments: Backcountry fee of $10 per person per night is not included in the price. Trips are subject to a small accommodation tax of $2.25 per person per night.
