Ride into the backcountry of Banff National Park

These horsepack trips allow you to explore some of Banff National Park's most spectacular back country on horseback. During these multi-day horsepack trip you will have the opportunity to visit several different mountain camps, sleep under the stars and view a multitude of local wildlife, including deer, elk, bighorn sheep and eagles. Highlights along the way may include visits to Rainbow Ridge, 40 Mile Summit and Mystic Valley. Lots of opportunities for some stream fishing, photography and hiking.

Leave behind deadlines and schedules and trade them for fresh mountain air, a good horse and a trail that leads you to one spectacular view after another. These rides are perfect for people of all ages and abilities. Your professional cowboy guides will give you an inside look at western culture and provide you with enough good times to create plenty of fond memories.

Ride into the backcountry of Banff National Park

Season: late June, 2012 to late August, 2012
Requirements: Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, duffel bag. Rentals available
Suggested Items: Fishing gear, camera, binoculars, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle.
Suggested Clothing: Warm clothing suitable for a variety of weather conditions. Rain gear, warm coat, hat, long pants, riding or hiking boots, sneakers, bathing suit, towel.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Maximum Number of People: 12
Equipment Provided: Riding equipment, tents.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Banff, Alberta. Banff can be reached by taking Highway 1 west of Calgary, about 75 miles. Transportation arrangements available.
Accommodations: Accommodations are camps along the way. The camps are equipped with A-frame canvas sleeping tents, a kitchen tent, wash stands, hot water and a fire pit.
Meal Information: All meals are included and consist of hearty western fare.
Guide Information: Your guides have years of experience guiding in the area.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures average between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius. Mornings in the mountains may be cool.
Comments: Backcountry fee of $10 per person per night is not included in the price.
