Fly fishing seminars with Jim & Lynda McLennan
The McLennans have been teaching fly fishing in Alberta for over 30 years, and has a sound reputation. Corporate fly fishing schools for companies are a great addition to your next company retreat, and incorporate some learning and teambuilding. Fly fishing is a growing sport, increasingly attractive to people of all ages, genders, and physical abilities, and many of the locations where corporate events are held are also ideal places to take up fly fishing. A fly fishing school is suitable for staff retreats, teambuilding days or as a client appreciation event. It is an attractive alternative to more traditional retreat activities like golf, sightseeing or trail riding. The school can be planned as a stand-alone event in Calgary, or it could be incorporated into a weekend retreat at a location outside of Calgary. These seminars are completely portable and Jim and Lynda can come to your city or town anywhere in Canada, just contact us for prices and details. Lynda McLennan says, "There is a lot of information presented in our schools, but we also know that having fun is the most important ingredient in fly fishing and we take that approach in all our schools." A school can be a half-day introduction to the sport, or a full-day school with more detailed instruction. All equipment is provided and schools can accommodate up to 50 students. For groups of less than 16 students, Jim and Lynda McLennan will be the instructors. For larger groups, additional instructors will be provided. Schools can be scheduled through the week and to suit the company's convenience. A corporate fly fishing school can also include informal casting and knot-tying contests and "graduation" certificates for each student at the end of the day. Digital photographs of students participating in the school will be made available.

Jim McLennan is a well known fly fisherman, author and instructor. Jim was one of the first guides on Alberta's legendary Bow River, working the river from 1976-1982. During that time Jim introduced many famous fly fishers to the wonders of the Bow including Leigh Perkins, Lefty Kreh, A.J. McClane, Ernest Schwiebert, and Charles Waterman. He has written three books about fly fishing. Blue Ribbon Bow was initially published in coffee-table format in 1987, and received the Outdoor Book of the Year Award from the Outdoor Writers of Canada. This edition is now out of print, but a revised and updated edition was published in 1998. Trout Streams of Alberta, a Canadian best-seller, was published in 1996 and received the Andy Russell Nature Writing Award. His latest book, Fly Fishing Western Trout Streams, was published by Stackpole in 2003. Jim's writing appears frequently in major outdoor magazines, including Fly Fisherman, for whom he is Editor At Large. Lynda McLennan has fly-fished in her home province of Alberta since 1976. A natural teacher, she has taught fly fishing for shops and at fly fishing gatherings since 1985. She was a founding director of Casting For Life, a weekend fly fishing retreat for breast cancer survivors. Though her home waters are in southern Alberta, she has fly-fished many places in Western Canada, the U.S. and New Zealand. Her photography appears frequently in numerous outdoor magazines.
