Relax at a cattle ranch in the Porcupine Hills

Head to Alberta's majestic Porcupine Hills and relax at this western style guest ranch. This is Canadian Ranch Country at its finest. Nestled in the Porcupine Hills, on the eastern slopes of the Rockies, lies this ranch. Relax in your private cabin and listen to a gently rolling creek that runs just outside the cabin and let country life surround you while taking you back to a slower pace.

This ranch offers quiet relaxation as well as the opportunity to explore some of southwestern Alberta's many tourism spots. The ranch is ideally situated with several exciting day trips within an easy drive. Options include Kananaskis Country, Bar U Ranch historical site, Frank Slide, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Ft. Macleod Museum, Old Man River Dam and Waterton Lakes National Park.

Season: year round
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen. Cross country skis in the winter.
Suggested Clothing: Rain slicker, riding boots, blue-jeans and long sleeved shirts. In the winter bring snow boots, warm coat, snow pants, mitts, hat.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Restrictions: Riding packages are limited to adults and children over the age of 16 years, special accommodation packages can be arranged for families with small children who want their young children to experience 30 minutes sessions in the saddle, assisted by an experienced adult from the ranch at all times.
Maximum Number of People: 6
Equipment Provided: Riding equipment.
Transportation: Trips begin and end at the ranch near Claresholm, Alberta. This is about 2 hours south of Calgary. Airport pick up is available for an additional cost.
Accommodations: Accommodations are in a private rustic cabin that sleeps up to 6 people. The cabin has 2 queen beds upstairs, a double pull-out sofa bed downstairs, bathroom, running water, electricity and kitchen.
Meal Information: Southwestern style ranch meals included in the packages, as stated in the pricing list. Kitchen facilities available in the cabin.
Guide Information: Your hosts come from a long-time local ranching family. Horseback riding is available for $25 per hour.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures will average from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius. Winter temperatures will average from 0 to -25 degrees Celsius.
