ABOUT THIS REGION  HORSEBACK RIDING

Horseback riding adventure lodge in Cape Breton

Enjoy a variety of horseback riding activities at this lodge in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Each of these horse adventures begins with a briefing to acquaint you with the guides method of handling their Norwegian Fjord horses. These animals have distinct personalities and, although not flighty – no runaways – they’ll present a welcome challenge for the experienced rider. With a little practice using voice commands and horse-friendly hackamore, rather than bridle and bit, you’ll be in full control! Horse driving is the perfect introduction to our method of handling the Norwegian Fjord horses. On the 3 day package your guide will accompany you on your cart or wagon to teach you vocal commands and how to handle reins attached to halter – no bridles and bits here! The 6 day package is designed for the more experienced rider. It includes four full days of riding, averaging 5 hours per day, through some of Cape Breton's most rugged and scenic countryside.

Horseback riding adventure lodge in Cape Breton

Known for their gentle dispositions, intelligence and low flight response, Norwegian Fjord horses are well suited to the experienced or novice horse enthusiast. Their very distinct personalities will be immediately apparent and add a new dimension to your unique equine adventure. Saddle up for a day-long riding adventure to the Cape Breton Highlands Plateau and a unique trout fishing expedition to Bell Lakes and an old fashioned, on-the-fire, just-caught lunch. Explore New Glen and the abandoned farms that dot this charming, off-the-beaten-track landscape. Learn of the evolution of the Baddeck River Valley and the history of its people as small-scale farms were made obsolete by large-scale, industrialized farming practices.
