You will travel through silent forests, along winding creeks and on frozen lakes surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Anvil Range. You will drive your own team of well trained dogs, sleep in Arctic tents, set on wooden floors and equipped with wood stoves. Delicious homemade meals partly produced in the organic garden of the Farm (you will never forget the taste of the Yukon grown potatoes) will be served in a cozy wall tent. This is an authentic Yukon dogsledding experience. There is a full day of training where you will learn how to handle the dog team and sled prior to heading out on the overnight expedition.

Season: late November to early April
Requirements: Lunches during the trips from Whitehorse to Faro and back are not included. We will stop at Braeburn Lodge for lunch (all meal once you get to Faro are included for those booking the package. For people booking only the 5 days, lunch on day 1 will be served at the Farm and then full board during the expedition). Winter gear rental in Whitehorse may be necessary to equip yourself properly for the trip.
Suggested Items: Camera, daypack, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, binoculars.
Suggested Clothing: There is a saying "There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing" and this is particularly true for the Yukon. There is nothing so exhilarating as the nip of Yukon air on the cheek, but less enjoyable is the feeling of cold feet. You must be prepared for cold temperatures in the range of -30 degrees Celsius or minus 20 Fahrenheit. If you are not familiar with dressing for these temperatures we highly recommend renting a winter clothing package in Whitehorse prior to the trip.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Restrictions: This program requires a reasonable level of fitness. There are a few fairly steep hills to climb and participants will have to help their dog team by pedaling or even walk fast or run beside it. Mushing its own team on some sections of the wilderness trails requires balancing it in curves and using the break. In short, mushing is a sporty activity. To safely enjoy our expedition, participants should be at least 16 years old. Prior to securing a booking we contact every participant and answer questions and concerns that each may have.
Maximum Number of People: 4

Accommodations: Accommodations are in campsites along the trail. The packages includes accommodations at a bed & breakfast in Faro before and after the tour. On the expedition there will be a tent for two participants with a wooden floor, a woodstove and raised beds. Every tent will be already stacked with firewood. Warm sleeping bags with clean removable liners will be provided and temperatures in the sleeping tents are very cozy once the stove is going. Meals will be served in a mess wall tent that will be ready and heated before the arrival of the group. There is an outhouse at each camp and warm water and wash basins will be available.

|
Weather Information: Faro has a continental semi-desertic climate and is located at an altitude of 800m. This means cold dry sunny winters and usually a snow cover of about 2 to 3 feet (60-90cm). During the coldest part of the year, mostly around January, temperatures can drop to -50 C for a short period. The average temperature ranges from -10 to -30 C but can warm up significantly during the day when the sun is out. The area is not windy.
| Comments: Our dogs are a mixed breed called Alaskan husky. Many of our dogs have run the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest and come from outstanding bloodlines. All our dogs are extremely friendly and safe to handle. There are two things that they really like in life : run and be cuddled. You will be driving a team of 7 to 8 enthusiastic well trained dogs that will soon become your best friends.
