The Smoky River (this trip is Class II-III+, depending on water levels) is a large volume braided river and is one of the main tributaries in the Arctic watershed. It sources at Mt. Robson glacier, and flows through the Grande Cache area to the Peace River. Remote wilderness, big waves and spectacular scenery. This rafting trip is great for novice and intermediate rafters. June and July is high water season, with May, August and September better for calmer trips - great for families. Wildlife sightings are common, and the Smoky River is surrounded by mountain vistas. The Kakwa River (Class III-IV+) is a medium volume, lake fed river that is only run during high water in June and July. The rafting trip is gradual but fast for the first part, then slams into a wild, steep section with tremendous bends, drops and hazards. It is a powerful run, with a few spots that will test even an expert paddler.
