Canoeing adventures in Algonquin Park

Few things are more Canadian than a canoe trip through the thick boreal forests of the Canadian Shield. Algonquin Provincial Park, located just 3 hours from Toronto, covers 7,000 square kilometers of prime wilderness. The park is known for its famous waterways and abundant wildlife and these canoe adventures allow you to access some of the remote regions of this park.

As Ontario's oldest provincial park, Algonquin offers a superb wilderness experience. Since 1893 it has been Canada's favourite canoe trip destination and world renowned for its scenery and abundant wildlife. Trips move at a relaxing pace through a diversity of lakes and slow moving sections of river. There is lots of time along the route for wildlife viewing, hiking, swimming and backcountry exploration. These trips feature camping accommodations, delicious meals, professional guiding and are suitable for all ages.

Season: June to September
Requirements: Sleeping bag rated to -8 degrees Celsius. Rentals are available. Water bottle.
Suggested Clothing: Jacket, rain gear, hiking boots, sneakers, sweater or fleece clothing, wool socks, long pants, shorts, t-shirt, long sleeved shirt, hat, bathing suit, towel.
Difficulty: Easy/Intermediate
Maximum Number of People: 8
Equipment Provided: Canoes and equipment.
Transportation: Trips originate and end in Algonquin Park. Return transportation from Toronto, Ontario available for an additional cost.
Accommodations: Accommodations are in tent campsites along the route.

Meal Information: Meals are included.
Guide Information: Guides are skilled outdoorsmen and women and will teach you the basics of paddling a canoe. They are also well versed in the natural and cultural history of northern Ontario and are trained in wilderness first aid.
Weather Information: Summer temperatures average between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.
Comments: 3 day trips are offered Mondays to Wednesdays or Fridays to Sundays. 5 day canoe trips are available Monday to Friday.
