ABOUT THIS REGION  DOGSLEDDING

Dogsledding in Algonquin Provincial Park

These short 3 and 4 day dogsledding adventures are the perfect introduction to dogsledding. After meeting the dogs at the edge of Algonquin Park, you will be given instructions on the proper technique of controlling your team. You will help harness the dogs, hook them to the sleds and off you go! After the dogs settle down into their natural pace you will steer them into Algonquin, navigating forest trails and wide open frozen lakes. On the flat parts of the trail you can relax and watch the forest silently slide by. In the evening you will arrive at a hunters cabin deep in the park. After feeding and watering the dogs, you will sit down to a delicious meal and relax in front of a wood stove and swap sled stories with your group. This trip is the real thing, you get a 6-8 dog team with only 2 mushers per sled.

Dogsledding in Algonquin Provincial Park

Only 3 hours north of Toronto, Algonquin Provincial Park is Ontario's oldest park and one of the largest in Canada. It boasts over 7600 square kilometers, with over 2000 fresh water lakes. Within its borders can be found deer, moose, beaver, wolves, bears and many other wild animals, all in their natural habitats. This park is so large and so varied that one end of the park can have entirely different weather from the other end! This park is the perfect location for your next winter adventure.
